Killers of a Certain Age

Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn

Five out of five magical Coffee cups:

Assassins ready to retire have to fight for their lives. It makes me feel better about getting older, in a way.  If they can still do all of this (kill, set off bombs, run around different countries) as they retire, I should be okay living in a home with stairs when I retire. On second thought, I better join a gym.

Anyway, I enjoyed this one. You hear about spies in the prime of their lives all the time. Here, we learn what happens when they are ready to retire. There is a lot of action and a lot of secrets! Billie, Mary Alice, Helen, and Natalie have been spies for forty years.  They are on a vacation to celebrate the occasion when they realize there are assassins out to get them! Now they need to work together against their own organization!

Maybe it is because I am getting older, but I love hearing about older characters in books. I am going to be on the lookout for more books with older main characters.

Random thought: I saw an old video about the ‘Golden Bachelor,’ and all I could think about was this book. I kept thinking about the show being more about these older women running all around the world completing crazy tasks while looking amazing and like your fashionable grandmother. I would watch that show.
