The Extradimensional Reappearance of Mars Patel (Mars Patel #3) by Sheela Chari
3 out of 4 Magical Coffee Cups

They are heading back to Earth! Well, some of them are. Mars, JP, Toothpick, Aurora, and Oliver Pruitt hop on a shuttle and are on their way back. Staying behind are Julia, Orion, and Caddie! I was a little shocked to see Caddie stay behind. I guess they felt that there was hope on the red planet.
Things start to get crazy, as usual, for this series. Earth is missing, and there isn’t much they can do about it, so they keep heading in the right direction, hoping for the best. Eventually, they return to Earth, but all the adults are missing! I did have some questions about this. Yes, I understand that everyone under the age of 18 simply vanished. I can go along with that, but they said it happened about a year ago. So, if you turned 18 that year, did you also vanish? Like, do you disappear on your 18th birthday? Was this a way to “restart”? So, the freshly new adults stay as the eldest generation of this society? That sounds right.
Anyway, the kids are running Earth, and they are doing an amazing job. The climate has improved, and things seem to be better overall. The kids all have jobs and even still go to school. They have things under control.
The science stuff gets crazier and crazier. Before, it was just very advanced science stuff, but now, some of this is straight-up science fiction to the utmost degree! Although, isn’t there a saying, “It’s only science fiction until it’s science fact?” or something like that? I think there could be a lot of good discussion with this book. What do we need to do to make Earth a better place? What are you willing to do to reach these goals?
It was a fun ride, and I am sad to see it end. I might have to check out the podcast.
