Dead Girl’s Diary by K. R. Alexander
I have read a lot of K.R. Alexander books. I think one of my posts was a collection of Alexander books. They are quick reads and just spooky enough to keep you reading. My students are also big fans, and these books fly off the shelves!
Kara has always had visions. She told her parents once, but they freaked out so badly that she never mentioned it again. One day, she finds a package on her doorstep. It’s a diary. She knows this is the diary of the girl she has had visions of all her life. She learns that this girl has died, but was it an accident, or was she killed?
Oh, I love the spooky books!
In the back of the diary, Kara finds an old newspaper article about the dead girl. Kara and her best friend decide they need to go and find out what really happened to the dead girl. Kara and her best friend, Sienna, decide to skip school and head to a town about one hundred miles away to investigate this girl’s death. That is pretty brave… or stupid, not sure which at this point.
Once they arrive, they quickly team up with a local kid named Mark. Mark wants to help them figure out what happened as well. Weirdly, he wants to help, but even more so, the town is oddly friendly. Everyone waves and smiles when they walk past you. Everyone knows everyone as well. It’s creepy.
I will say the ending was rushed but it was interesting. I know it is a middle grade book but I sort of wish they put a little more time into the ending.
