The Graveyard Club

The Graveyard Club by R. L. Stine

A graphic novel by R.L. Stine!

I read this online from Booktrovert. Check it out!

A group of teens living in the town of Grave’s End. A city surrounded by cemeteries. I personally would not live there. There is not a lot for them to do, so they keep themselves busy by hanging out in one of the graveyards. They call themselves the graveyard club.  One night, while gathered in the graveyard, the town sheriff finds them. Granted, they are drinking beer, but the sheriff is really mean. He does not like these kids at all. He is very much bullying them, one kid in particular, Parker. His reasoning for this seems to be because of Parker’s dad. His dad went missing a while back, and I guess that makes Parker a bad kid. Makes no sense.

The sheriff has a son who is just as much of a bully. Parker and the sheriff’s son get into a prank war that quickly gets out of control. These pranks are just awful. People are being shoved downstairs, cars are set on fire, and honestly, those are the tame pranks. It is wild.

There was an end to the pranks that was a little out of left field, but it does answer some questions. But sort of just moves past these horrid pranks. I wonder what the rest of the town is thinking about all of this going on in their town.

I’m not sure if there are multiple volumes or just different chapters after that. There was a super quick section about a girl in the graveyard, and then another story that goes deeper into what happened to Parker’s dad. It does explain a lot of what was going on, but it really is just the surface of what is going on in that town.

I would read more into this series! I do love R. L. Stine. Lots of memories from my childhood. Glad he is still putting books out!
