Two Perfect Lies

Two Perfect Lies by Natalie D. Richards

Clara did something two years ago that resulted in her being arrested at school. Instead of becoming a total outcast, Lily, a girl that everyone loves, took her in as a friend and helped save her reputation. But now Lily is acting strange. She is asking about how to plan the perfect murder. And things like how to blow up a car. All this talk worries Clara, and after a sleepless night, she decides to take what she knows to the school administration. Only when she gets there, she is greeted by the police. All the information she has makes her look guilty. Lily has set her up! Wild!

Clara is immediately trying to defend herself. She is looking into what would make Lily do this and how she can prove it was Lily and not her. I was impressed with the investigations and the setup. I will say that if someone gave me a folder to hang onto until the next day, I don’t care how well I know them, I’m going through that folder right away. You don’t want me to go through it? Then don’t ask me to hold on to it. I might be a very nosy person. Lily did go pretty hard to make Clara look bad. This girl is insane. Like, she put in a lot of work to make Clara look bad.

As Clara goes around asking questions, she starts hearing more and more about other people Lily has gone after. Each of them was afraid to say anything for one reason or another. It’s wild what people can get away with when you have a good reputation. So many people just believe what Lily says simply because she is Lily.

This one had my heart racing a little. I was worried for a number of people in this book. How far is Lily willing to go? Why is she willing to do all of this? Can anyone stop her? What will she do next? I sometimes fear there are students like this at my school.
