Free Piano (Not Haunted)

Free Piano (Not Haunted) by Whitney Gardner

You got to love seeing a sign for something free.

Free Piano. NOT HAUNTED

Totally normal.

Please take it away.

Sounds safe. I would probably take a closer look.

Margot sees this piano on the side of the road with that sign, and she is super excited to take it home. She is a ukulele player, but she wants to branch out and learn piano as well. She gets her love of music from her dad. He is a musician as well. Sort of. I guess. He has a few thousand followers on social media and decided he needs to move to LA to really get his career started. It’s clear he doesn’t really care about his daughter, and that annoyed me so much.

Margot wants to learn how to play the piano with or without her dad’s help. And then Vision appears. Vision is a ghost of an 80s pop star. She isn’t really a mean ghost, though. It sounds like she wants to help Margot make music. That’s the most important thing, right? Or is it fame and followers?

Why is Vision haunting this piano? Why can’t she move on?

It was a sweet and sort of sad story overall. We learn that dad doesn’t really care about her, we don’t really get to know mom all that well, and we don’t even know Margot all that well. The ending was interesting, though.
