Birdie got her nickname from her love of birds. Her father was a firefighter, and he died in a fire a few years back. She now lives with her mom and her grandmother. The problem is that things are starting to change. Her grandmother, who used to talk about her funeral all the time and hated cats, has started to date! Now she is all about Mr. Gray’s cat, and she has stopped talking about her funeral. Even worse! Her mom is also dating! But at least Birdie still has her two friends, Nina and Martin.
Guess what? Nina and Martin are dating.
Poor Birdie, she was happy with the way things were. She feels like her mom is trying to replace her dad, her grandma is acting weird (why does she suddenly love cats?), and she doesn’t like Nina and Martin getting so close.
It was a very simple but sweet story of having to get used to change.
